📒Second Thoughts On Marriage And Divorce by Charles Jackson
DESCRIPTION : Most people intend to honor their vows forever when they say "I do." In reality, though, over 50 percent of first marriages and an even higher percent of second and third marriages end in divorce. Furthermore, the dissolution often takes a huge financial toll on both sides. "Second Thoughts on Marriage and Divorce" contains essential information for anyone contemplating marriage or divorce. If you're thinking about getting married, you'll learn about: the laws surrounding the marriage license identifying and protecting your separate assets whether prenuptial agreements really work sharing more than just last names. If you're thinking about getting divorced, you'll learn about: minimizing the impact on your children avoiding expensive attorneys negotiating fair settlements strategies to retain your assets. Charles Jackson has been married and divorced twice, and he is a child of divorced parents. He hopes he can use his experiences to help others reduce the emotional and financial stress involved in the divorce process.
📒Marriage Divorce And The Abandoned Wife In Jewish Law by Michael J. Broyde
DESCRIPTION : One of the most vexing problems to confront American Orthodox Jewry is the case of the agunah--a wife abandoned by a husband who refuses to give her a Jewish divorce. This work seeks to explain the agunah problem in the United States. It argues that the agunah problem in contemporary America is part of a more general dispute in classical Jewish law as to when marriage should end. American no-fault divorce law adds a level of complexity, and is both part of the problem and part of the solution. The author concludes that preemption agreements can successfully address the agunah problem in the United States since they provide a way for couples to create an image of marriage and divorce by which they can agree to live.
